ICF - The Investment Climate Facility for Africa
Tanzania to modernise its Customs Administration
The Customs and Excise Department (CED) of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has partnered with the Investment Climate Facility (ICF) to modernise Tanzania’s customs administration. This project aims to achieve a timely and less burdensome release of goods.
The second phase of the project will include the design, development and implementation of the new system at the airport pilot site. The airport has been chosen due to its small impact on the revenue collection.
The third phase of the project will involve the roll out of the new system as well as a national sensitization campaign and capacity building.
Following the implementation of phase 3, the logging of goods in Dar es Salaam will take 11 days instead of 37, and the procedures will drop from 17 to 11.
